Additional information on East Coast Debating Cup

Salam and greetings,


Apart from participants (debater and adjudicator), we would not allow institutions to send any extra person to the tournament (be it as reserve debater, observer/supporter, additional adjudicator, or accompanying officer). The reason being the accomodation, we have book a limited rooms for accomodation so our concern if there are any extra person we might not be able to accomodate everyone. So only bring your debaters and adjudicator ya!


However, if your institutions did not require accomodation, you may bring observer or accompanying officer.


As of the payment, we must insist the payment before 4th January 2012. We have booked hotel rooms and foods in advanced, and we need those rego fees to pay the deposit. East Coast Debating Cup Updates

Hello everyone!

IIUM Kuantan East Coast Debating Cup main board has decided that we would open the Bahasa Melayu category to secondary institution too. Click here for the pre-registration form.

Institutions who want to start making the rego fee payment may start doing so starting now. Kindly contact us to verify your payment and participation. Institutions who have made the payment may proceed to second phase of registration (forms will be available soon).

UiTM Cipta Rekod Debat Bahasa Melayu 222 Jam

SHAH ALAM 3 Dis. - Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) mencatatkan sejarahnya tersendiri apabila berjaya lagi melaksanakan perdebatan bahasa Melayu ala perbahasan Parlimen selama 222 Jam, 44 minit, 12 saat tanpa henti di sini, hari ini.

Dekan Fakulti Pendidikan UiTM, Prof. Madya Dr. Izaham Shah Ismail berkata, Program Debat Bahasa Melayu 211 Jam Tanpa Henti (Debat 211 Jam) ini telah berjaya mencapai kejayaan tempoh perdebatan selama 222 jam melebihi sasaran awal sekretariat iaitu 211 jam.

"Tempoh itu dipanjangkan kepada 222 jam atas permintaan menggalakkan daripada banyak pihak yang ingin turut serta menjayakan program anjuran UiTM dengan kerjasama Kumpulan Utusan ini.

"Pada tahun 2006, kami telah mencatat rekod MBR dengan penglibatan 600 para peserta selama 100 jam, 10 minit dan 44 saat tetapi hari ini Debat 211 Jam berjaya memecahkan rekod bukan sahaja 211 jam tetapi 222 jam," katanya pada Majlis Penutup Debat 211 Jam di Anjung Sri Budiman, di sini, hari ini.

Perdebatan dalam mengangkat bahasa Melayu ini, jelas Dr. Izaham Shah, harus dipertahankan agar ia tidak hilang ditelan zaman, sekali gus menjadi lambang warisan bangsa pada masa akan datang.

Hadir sama Pengarang Pendidikan Utusan Malaysia, Wahid Hashim; Pengasas Yayasan Orator, Datin Norjuma Habib Mohammed; Ikon Pidato Malaysia, Datuk Dr. Syed Ahmad Syed Samsuddin Al-Saggof; wakil MBR, Zulhairi Md. Zin dan Penasihat program, Noriza Hussin.

Program debat bahasa Melayu bermula pada 24 November lalu dan berakhir hari ini disertai peserta yang terdiri daripada pelajar-pelajar UiTM, institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi awam dan swasta, maktab perguruan, kolej komuniti, politeknik, alumni pertubuhan belia dan sekolah menengah.

Rekod baru yang dicipta menerusi program Debat Bahasa Melayu 211 Jam Tanpa Henti itu telah erakhir pada sesi perdebatan sidang ke-222 di Anjung Sri Budiman, UiTM di sini pada pukul 3.49 petang, semalam.

Pada sidang terakhir tersebut, pasukan pencadang dan pembangkang, masing-masing merupakan ahli alumni UiTM berdebat mengenai tajuk Artis Medium Menyatukan Rakyat.

Adjudicator Subsidies

Greetings everyone!

The board has agreed to provide 8 adjudicator subsidies for each Bahasa Melayu and English category. The subsidy will include rego fee, accomodation and food only. Transportation subsidy will not be provided.

Please take note that this subsidy is open to debaters/adjudicators from outside east coast region (outside Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan region) only.

Updates on East Coast Debating Cup

Greetings everyone,

Apart from the previously mentioned rules, there are a few additional rules that we we would like to apply to the tournament :

1) No reserve debaters are allowed, for Bahasa Melayu and English category. Only 3 debaters are allowed to be registered under one team.

2) Because of the long journey hours, we would suggest that those who come all the way from Kelantan and Terengganu to Kuantan to come earlier on 26th January 2012 (Registration opens at 8am 27th January 2012, First Round starts at 2pm). We are happy to assist you on your accomodation if you opt to come a day in advance, by providing you one extra night on your accomodation at an additional cost of RM50 per person apart from the RM200 per person from the registration fee (total rego fee for one extra night = RM200+RM50 = RM250 per person). As for those who did not require accomodation, the rego fee is RM150 per person.

3) Registration period will end on 28th December 2011. The last day to complete the registration fee payment is 4th January 2012.

Note : Teams from secondary schools are also allowed to participate in English category

Just a reminder, the team cap for each Bahasa Melayu and English category are 30 teams. Team cap per institution is 3 teams. Registration fee is RM200 per person including food, accomodation and transportation (from accomodation to debating venue). The dateline for the payment is 4 January 2012.

IIUM Kuantan East Coast Debating Cup

Greetings and pleasant day to everyone,

        International Islamic University Malaysia Kuantan Campus (IIUM Kuantan) is very excited to announce that we will organize our very first debating competition, the 1st IIUM East Coast Debating Cup. The competition will be held on 27^th to 29^th January 2012. The competition will be open to public and private academic institutions in the East Coast (Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan) region ONLY. We will begin sending invitational letters to every institution in the East Coast region and start the registration process very soon.

        2 categories will be opened, Bahasa Melayu and English category. For Bahasa Melayu category, debat ala parlimen style will be followed while the English category will follow the Asian parliamentary format. Team caps for each category is 30 teams (maximum 3 teams per academic institution, first come first serve basis). No composite team allowed. Each institutional branches will be considered as exclusive and separated. It is COMPULSORY for every team to send one adjudicator for each team registered. The breaking caps would be 8 teams. As for the English category, we will also extend registration eligibility to secondary academic institution (MRSM, SBP, daily secondary school are also invited to participate).

       Here are some additional details on the competition :

Venue       : Kulliyyah Of Medicine, Kulliyyah Of Pharmacy and Kulliyyah Of Science, International Islamic University Malaysia Kuantan Campus, Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur.

Rego fee   : RM 200 per person (debater, adjudicator and observer) including food (breakfast,lunch and dinner), accommodation (hotel rooms around Kuantan) and transportation (from accomodation to debating venue).

        Other details are yet to be determined, but we will update it soon. So mark up your calendar East Coast debaters, come to IIUM Kuantan and participate in the tournament!
